I recently dined at a participating restaurant but my points were not awarded. I contacted the “missing dines” link on the AAdvantage Dining site and was asked for details (date, restaurant, transaction amount, etc.) The response back was that the transaction was not captured due to “technical difficulties”. I was asked to fax or email my receipt or charge account statement. I replied with a line from my online account info since I had not yet received my statement and don’t keep my receipts for dining out. I also asked them to contact the restaurant if what I sent wasn’t enough for them to believe me. Their answer back was that their terms and conditions put the burden on me to validate the transaction. So if you choose to participate in this program, managed for American Airlines by Rewards Network, be sure to keep all your receipts. Kind of like those crappy rebate programs if you ask me. Oh, by the way, when I clicked on the terms and conditions link on the AAdvantage Dining site, the resulting page came up blank. Guess it was another technical difficulty.
