Chase Enhances the United MileagePlus Explorer Card with No Foreign Transaction Fees

Chase Card Services has announced that effective June 1, 2013, all purchases made with the United MileagePlus Explorer Card outside of the U.S. will no longer be subject to foreign transaction fees.

Card members will now be able to use your card internationally without incurring foreign transaction fees.

For example, a card member spending $3,000 while traveling outside of the U.S. would now save $90.

This enhancement adds to the other unique benefits, such as a free checked bag, priority boarding, and 2 United Club passes per year, that MileagePlus Explorer card members already receive.

Up to 45,000 Bonus Miles Your First Year

The MileagePlus Explorer Card Bonus Miles Offer provides you with up to 45,000 miles in your first year as a card member.

You’ll get 30,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months that your account is open.

You’ll get 5,000 bonus miles when you add an authorized user to your account and make a purchase with your card during the first 3 months as a card member.

You’ll also get 10,000 bonus miles every calendar year that you spend at least $25,000 on your card, so you can get these 10,000 miles every single year in addition to the regular miles that you earn for your card spending.

United MileagePlus Explorer Card Travel Benefits

First checked bag free – Card members and up to 1 traveling companion will receive their first checked bag free on United operated flights when you purchase your ticket with your card, worth up to $100 per roundtrip. Service charges for additional/oversized/overweight bags will apply.

Priority boarding – Card members board prior to general boarding, so you have earlier access to overhead space and can relax as the rest of the plane boards.

United airport club passes – Each year, card members will receive 2 United Club passes, a $100 value.

Premier Upgrades on Award Tickets – Card members who are MileagePlus Premier members and are traveling on award tickets can take advantage of complimentary Premier Upgrades on United-operated flights (when available).

Use MileagePlus miles for any seat, any time, on any United flight – If seats are available for sale on United-operated flights, card members can use miles to book a ticket at the Standard Award level.

Double miles on United tickets – Card members earn 2 award miles per $1 spent on tickets purchased with the card from United and 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases.

Miles do not expire – United MileagePlus Explorer card members’ miles will not expire as long as you remain a card member.

No foreign transaction fees – Purchases made with your Explorer Card outside the U.S. will not be subject to foreign transaction fees.

The United MileagePlus Explorer Card also offers benefits that extend through the entire travel experience, including access to The Luxury Hotel and Resorts Collection from Chase, which offers special card member-only amenities at over 700 properties in the U.S and around the world.
