What do I need to do to get 1% Cash Back?

Just use your Electric Orange Debit MasterCard on all eligible purchases under $50 from October 1st to November 30, 2010 and get 1% Cash Back.

What types of transactions are eligible for 1% Cash Back?

Any eligible signature or PIN-based purchase for under $50 that posts to your account. The total amount of the original purchase must be under $50 (cash back at merchants doesn’t count towards the total purchase amount).

What transactions are not eligible for the 1% Cash Back?

  • Any purchase that posts to your account for greater than $50
  • Any transaction where you request cash back or obtain a cash advance
  • Any gambling related purchase like lottery tickets, casino chips, or bets
  • Items that are returned
  • Unauthorized transactions
  • ATM withdrawals, wire transfers or money orders
  • Finance charges or tax payments

What kinds of things are most likely to earn 1% Cash Back?

All the common everyday things – like a cup of coffee, lunch, gas, a quick trip to the grocery store, fast food, stamps, movie tickets, pizza deliveries, or better yet, ice cream sundaes. Pretty much anything that’s under $50.

What is the “total amount of original purchase?”

Let’s say you buy an item for $10, another item for $12 and the tax is $2.20. The “total amount of original purchase” is $24.20.

Do merchants accept Debit Cards for purchases under $50?

Debit Card transactions are much faster for a merchant to process than counting cash. And unlike credit cards, you don’t have to worry about being charged interest on any of those purchases.

Do my purchases have to be made at select merchants to be eligible for Cash Back?

As long as it’s an eligible purchase, you’ll get 1% Cash Back.

Do my purchases have to be made within a certain time period?

The 1% Cash Back Rebate is only available on eligible purchases that post to your account between October 1, 2010 and November 30, 2010.

What’s the difference between the day I make my purchase and the day it “posts” to my account?

When you make a purchase, merchants have the option to place a temporary hold on your funds while they process the transaction. They have to release the hold after 3 days, and that’s when the transaction officially “posts” to your account.

Is there a limit to how much Cash Back I can get?

You can earn up to $250 Cash Back per month on all your purchases – a total of up to $500 from October 1, 2010 to November 30, 2010. Earn an extra $500 just for using your Electric Orange Card instead of cash.

When will the 1% Cash Back appear in my Electric Orange account?

The 1% Cash Back Rebate will be deposited into your Electric Orange by the 15th day of the following month.
