About the TD Ameritrade Settlement
A class action lawsuit has been filed against TD Ameritrade, based on a data breach that TD Ameritrade discovered and corrected in 2007.
The suit alleges that an unauthorized third party obtained client email addresses, which were then used to send unsolicited emails promoting certain stocks.
As part of the settlement, TD Ameritrade has agreed to pay no less than $2.5 million and up to $6.5 million in claims and have an outside evaluator review its security systems and procedures to verify the protections TD Ameritrade provides its clients.
