American Express FreedomPass Business Credit Card Rewards

The American Express FreedomPass Business Credit Card offers a simple way to earn travel rewards that are redeemable at any airline, any hotel, any car rental company, or any cruise line.

This American Express travel rewards business card has no annual fee, plus you’ll get 5,000 bonus points after your first purchase, which is 2/3 of the points you’ll need to earn a $100 cash rebate, and your points will never expire.

The best thing about the Platinum Business FreedomPass® Credit Card from OPENSM the small business team is that you redeem your cash rewards after you have rented a car or stayed at a hotel.

That means you don’t have to plan out your vacations around your credit card rewards program, and you aren’t subject to blackout dates or reservation requirements, since you apply your cash rewards to your travel purchases after you make them.

You’ll earn 1 point for every $1 you spend, and once you earn 7,500 points, you may redeem them for a $100 credit towards any flight, hotel, car rental, or cruise purchase, including purchases made through travel agencies and online travel sites. Once the qualifying purchase appears on your credit card statement, you simply request that your $100 cash bonus be credited to your account.

The $100 cash bonus for every $7,500 in purchases is roughly a 1.33% rebate on all purchases, and with the 5,000 bonus points you earn after your first purchase, you’ll only need to earn 2,500 more points before you receive your first $100 cash reward. That means you’ll earn a 4% cash rebate on your first $2,500 in purchases, since you’ll get the first $100 cash bonus after only spending that amount.

The Platinum Business FreedomPass® Credit Card from OPENSM the small business team offers a 0% APR introductory rate for the first 12 months on purchases.

It also offers a 7.99% fixed APR on balance transfers for the life of the balance on any balance transfers made within the first 6 months, and there are no balance transfer fees with this introductory offer, which makes this travel rewards credit card a pretty decent Balance Transfer Credit Card.

The American Express FreedomPass card has no annual fee, including no annual fees on any additional employee cards, although you don’t necessarily have to own a business to apply for this card. Just use your personal name for the business name on the application, and they prompt you to leave the business tax ID field blank if you are the sole proprietor of a business, which means you can apply for this card if you are just getting a business started.

American Express also offers the OPEN Savings program for this FreedomPass business rewards card, which provides savings on purchases at many companies including FedEx, Hyatt Hotels, Delta Airlines Discounts and more, and you can save up to 20% on airline, hotel, and car reservations when you book them through the American Express Business Travel Center.

You’ll also get travel and car rental insurance benefits, purchase protection services and all kinds of other American Express benefits and services.

TripRewards Free $25 Gift Card for 2 Hotel Stays

TripRewards is a free hotel rewards program that is currently offering a $25 Gift Card to members who stay 2 nights at any of their hotels before December 27, 2007.

TripRewards hotels include Days Inn, Ramada Worldwide, Super 8 Motel, Wingate by Wyndham, Baymont Inn & Suites, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn, and AmeriHost Inn, so you’ll be able to find them anywhere for any kind of budget.

The best thing about TripRewards is that it’s free to join, and you’ll immediately get a temporary membership card with your new membership number after joining online, so you can provide that at your next hotel stay upon check-in to begin taking advantage of the rewards and to get your $25 Gift Card after just 2 stays.

Join TripRewards Today to get your free $25 gift card after only 2 stays.

It works like this. TripRewards members get 10 points for every $1 they spend at any of the TripRewards hotels, and they get additional points for car rentals and other travel purchases. Plus, TripRewards regularly offers bonus points through promotional offers. These points are then redeemable for free stays at TripRewards hotels, travel rewards, merchant gift cards and other benefits, with free hotel stays starting at 6,000 points.

After a registered member makes 2 stays before December 27, 2007, TripRewards will apply bonus points to their earned points from the 2 hotel stays equaling a total of 5,500 points, which can then be redeemed for a $25 gift card from many brand name merchants.

If you are already a TripRewards member, simply Register to Be Eligible to Earn the $25 Gift Card.

Gift cards are available from a variety of merchants including Burger King, Chili’s, Denny’s, Hard Rock Cafe, Olive Garden, Starbucks, Amazon.com, Babies”R”Us, Best Buy, Borders, and many other merchants.

You could also choose to save your 5,500 points and after one more stay at a TripRewards hotel (of at least $50 for the night), you would have earned 6,000 points, which is then enough for a free hotel stay. So, this benefit could also be considered as “stay 3 nights and get a 4th night free.”

There are no blackout dates when redeeming your TripRewards hotel stays, and you simply reserve them online through the TripRewards interface. When you arrive to check-in at the hotel, there is no special process. They just check you in without you having to pay anything, as if you had prepaid for your hotel room with a credit card.

To earn points, you simply provide your TripRewards card upon check-in, or enter your membership number online when making reservations.

This is really a user-friendly hotel rewards program, and even if you forget to bring your card to the hotel, they allow you to fax in your hotel receipts to apply your points for up to 1 month after you have stayed at the hotel.

In fact, if you have recently stayed at a TripRewards hotel without taking advantage of the membership program, you could very likely sign up for TripRewards program online now, and then fax your hotel receipts to TripRewards in order to earn your points and the $25 gift card after 2 stays (TripRewards Fax#: 1-800-306-0671). The hotel can fax you your receipts if you don’t have them.

Just fax a note (along with your hotel receipts) to TripRewards that says there was a problem registering you for the TripRewards program during your check-in, but the hotel staff said you could register online later and still get your points for that stay.

The TripRewards customer service is seriously flexible and accommodating, so they will more than likely give you your points as long as your stay was not much more than a month ago. If you stayed twice, mention you registered for the “$25 gift card after 2 stays” promotion, and they will also give you enough bonus points for the $25 gift card.

The TripRewards program is really a great hotel rewards program for those who travel often or are planning a vacation. Even at the standard point-earning rate of 10 points per $1, and considering that an average hotel stay will cost anywhere from $50 to $100 or more, your points balance will really add up fast, and you can easily earn a free hotel stay for every 5 to 10 paid hotel stays.

With the $25 gift card promotion and the many other promotional offers that TripRewards provides, you will definitely be able to earn many additional free hotel rooms.

Whether you have recently stayed at any of the TripRewards hotels or you plan to stay at one of their hotels soon, Join the TripRewards Membership Program in order to start getting free hotel stays and other rewards.

If you really want to take full advantage of the TripRewards program, then you’ll want to consider the TripRewards hotel rewards credit card.

The TripRewards hotel rewards card offers you 13 points for each $1 you spend at TripRewards hotels (10 points for your regular TripRewards membership and an additional 3 points for using the TripRewards credit card). Plus, you’ll get 2 points for every $1 you spend everywhere else.

The TripRewards hotel rewards credit card has no annual fee, and it is a great way to get additional hotel rewards points for all of your purchases.

Get more TripRewards Credit Card Information (courtesy of CardSignUp.com).

However, you don’t have to get the TripRewards credit card in order to get the free $25 gift card after only 2 hotel stays or to earn points toward free hotel stays when you stay at TripRewards hotels.

Avoid Credit Card Foreign Exchange Fees

Credit card foreign exchange fees can cost you a lot of money while you are traveling, and you may not be aware how much your own credit card issuer will charge you for foreign transactions until it is too late.

The networks, Visa and MasterCard, charge the credit card companies 1% of every foreign transaction, and while many banks used to simply absorb the foreign exchange fee, several years ago they started passing on the burden to consumers and then some.

Nowadays, a typical credit card issuer will charge you up to an extra 2%, which can really add up while you’re traveling. Luckily, a few banks still do not charge their customers foreign exchange fees, because look how much these fees can cost you if you’re not aware of them.

With a typical foreign exchange fee of 3%, you will pay $30 extra for every $1,000 you spend while traveling. That’s $150 in foreign exchange fees if you spend $5,000 on your vacation.

With a fee of 2%, you’d spend an extra $100 if you spent $5,000, or $20 for every $1,000.

If you plan on living in a foreign country for any amount of time, the fees could be horrendous, so it is imperative that you get a credit card that does not charge you a foreign exchange fee.

The only 2 major credit card issuers that still do not charge foreign exchange fees are Discover and Capital One.

Here’s a list of current foreign exchange fees for major credit card issuers.

None - Discover Cards
None - Capital One

2% - American Express
2% - Pulaski Bank

3% - Citi Cards
3% - Chase
3% - Bank of America
3% - HSBC
3% - Providian

The fact that most credit card issuers add the extra charge on top of what they themselves have to pay is really insulting to consumers, so we highly recommend you use Discover Cards or Capital One cards if you plan on traveling outside of the U.S., and you may just want to make one of them your everyday card.

The Discover® More Card offers 5% cash back in many categories including travel, so it can actually save you money on top of not having a foreign exchange fee.

For business travelers, the Discover® Business Miles Card allows you to earn miles that are redeemable through any airline, plus you get double miles for travel and gasoline purchases.

Get up to 3 Free Hotel Nights with a Starwood Card

The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card will give you up to 3 Free Hotel Nights when you sign up and make a purchase of any size within one year.

Here’s how it works. You apply for the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and make a purchase of any size within one year to receive 10,000 Bonus Starpoints.

Then just redeem your points for up to 3 hotel nights at any of the participating Starwood Hotels including Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, W Hotels, Westin, Loft Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Le Meridien, element, and St. Regis.

You can actually get up to 5 separate hotel stays with the Starwood Card at the current exchange rate, as certain hotels offer free weekend nights at a rate of just 2,000 points per night. However, you would only be able to stay up to 3 nights in a row.

Of course, not all of the hotels will qualify for the best exchange rate, as top-tier hotels require between 10,000 - 25,000 points per night, but you’ll still be able to get between 3 - 5 stays at great hotels like Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, and Westin at the optimal exchange rate, or just use all 10,000 of your bonus Starpoints and treat yourself to a really nice night at a top-rated hotel.

The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card does have an annual fee of $45, but that fee is waived for the first year. You could always cancel the card before the first fee-free year expires, but you probably won’t want to, as this card offers all types of ways to earn additional free hotel stays.

For example, the card is currently offering an additional 15,000 bonus points when you spend $15,000 in 6 months.

The card also offers a low introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers, but we recommend that you pay off your monthly bills in full thereafter, as any balance that you carry on the standard interest rate will definitely cut into your savings.
