American Express No Foreign Currency Transaction Fees for U.S. Platinum and Centurion Cards

American Express has eliminated foreign currency transaction fees for U.S. consumer and small business card members with Platinum and Centurion cards.

Effective as of April 5, 2011, you will no longer be charged the 2.7% foreign currency transaction fees on international purchases when you use your American Express Platinum Card.

U.S. consumer and small business Platinum Card or Centurion Card members who make international purchases will no longer pay foreign currency transaction fees.

Platinum and Centurion card members have also recently received an American Express $200 Airline Fee Credit to cover baggage fees, flight change fees, in-flight food, and airport lounge day passes.

$200 Airline Fee Credit – Card members can check a bag or enjoy an in-flight meal on American Express. They will receive up to $200 per year in credits towards incidental airline fees that are charged on the Card member’s enrolled Platinum Card on their selected airline. The $200 Airline Fee Credit can apply to baggage fees, flight change fees, in-flight food and airport lounge day passes. 20% Travel Bonus – When Card members use the Membership Rewards Pay with Points feature to pay for part or all of their travel including airlines, hotels, cruises and vacation packages, they will get 20% of those points credited back to their account to bring them closer to their next trip.
