The Chase Freedom(SM) Credit Card has no annual fee, so it’s a great option for a cash rebate credit card, plus you’ll receive credit card bonuses and special features.

$50 Chase Freedom Cash Bonus

Apply for the Chase Freedom card and make 1 purchase of any size, and you’ll receive 5,000 bonus points, which can be redeemed for a $50 statement credit, a $50 check, or a $50 gift card to a variety of brand-name merchants and service providers.

Chase Freedom Cash Rebates

The Chase Freedom(SM) Credit Card cash rebate program is actually based on a points system, where each point is equivalent to a 1% rebate, and points can also be redeemed for a variety of merchandise, gift cards, charitable contributions, statement credits, and more.

You’ll earn 1 point per $1 for all of your purchases on the Freedom card, plus 2 bonus points per $1 in select Everyday spending categories.

Chase Freedom members will receive a total of 3 points per $1 in the 3 Everyday spending categories where they spend the most money each month, out of a total of 15 Everyday spending categories.

Everyday spending categories include:

Gas and Convenience Stores
Grocery Stores
Telecommunications
Cable/Satellite TV & Internet Service
Utilities
Fast Food & Quick Service Restaurants
Department Stores
Drugstores
Beauty Salons/Spas
Pet Supply Stores and Veterinarian Offices
Local Commuting
Gym Memberships
Dry Cleaners
Video Rentals
Movie Theaters

You’ll receive 2 bonus points per $1 in the 3 categories where you spend the most money in any given month for a total of 3 points per $1, which is equal to a 3% rebate.

However, there is a monthly limit of $600 in purchases that can receive the 2 bonus points in the Everyday spending categories, which is equal to $12 in rebates per month.

All other purchases over $600 per month in the Everyday spending categories will receive 1 point per $1, plus you’ll receive 1 point per $1 on all of your other credit card purchases.

Chase Freedom Rebates and Rewards

The Chase Freedom(SM) Credit Card now offers you the option to redeem your points for statement credits, which means you can reward yourself with anything you like, starting as low as 200 points.

However, the redemption rate for less than 5,000 points is much worse, so you won’t actually receive the full 3% or 1% rebates unless you redeem 5,000 points or more at a time.

Here’s the points redemption breakdown:

200 to 4,999 points - $1 to $25 statement credit towards any prior purchase.
1,000 points - $5 gift card for video rentals, books, coffee shops and more.
1,500 points - $10 gift card for gas, clothing stores, books and more.
2,500 points - $25 charitable contribution to WWF or ASPCA.
3,000 points - $25 gift card to restaurants, department stores, coffee shops, gas stations and more.
5,000 points - $50 gift card to home improvement stores, department stores, car rentals and more.
5,000 or more points - $50 or more in statement credits towards any prior purchase.
10,000 points - $100 gift card to department stores, home improvement stores, hotels and more.
15,000 points - $150 towards any airlines ticket purchase.
25,000 points - Round trip airline ticket for any class, any destination (up to $325 in value).

To receive the full 3% and 1% rebates on your purchases, you would need to redeem at least 5,000 points at a time, however, the statement credits are a nice option for those who may not reach an additional 5,000 points in spending after their initial 5,000 point first purchase bonus.
