I Finally Got Approved for My Barclaycard Arrival Credit Card

I finally received approval for my Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard after applying several weeks ago.

I applied for the Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard – $89 Annual Fee Card promotion to get the 40,000 bonus miles after making $3,000 in purchases within the first 90 days.

I plan on redeeming the 40,000 bonus miles for a $400 travel statement credit, as this is the redemption option that provides you with the best value for your miles (see comments below).

The $89 annual fee is waived for the first year, so I can earn the $400 bonus without ever paying an annual fee, and I’ll consider whether this card merits further use after my first fee-free year.

I applied for this Barclaycard Arrival card at the same time as I applied for my Ink Plus Business Card, and when I received an email notification that my application was under review, I thought that maybe applying for both cards in the same day might have triggered something to their application review department that would affect my approval process.

I also applied for their NFL Extra Points Card Bonus when it was offering $400 a while ago, but it has been a few months since then, and I do actually still use that card for certain purchases, so I didn’t really think it would negatively affect another application with them.

However, even though it took a few weeks, I was finally approved for my new Barclaycard Arrival Credit Card, so I’m happy that I will be able to take advantage of this bonus offer as well.

If your card application is still under review, you can Check Your Barclaycard Application Status online to see when you might be approved.

I’m glad to have been approved and am on my way to Earning Another Credit Card Bonus with Barclaycard.

If you get a statement credit the $400 bonus is only worth $200. You need to use the travel redemption option to get the full value of the bonus. If you redeem for travel you also get 10% of the rewards you redeem back making the bonus even bigger.

      Hello Andy,

Thank you for your comment and clarification.

To further clarify, the distinction is that there are “travel statement credits” and “cash back statement credits.”

Travel statement credit redemptions start at 2,500 miles for $25, and they can be used for any travel purchase within the last 90 days.

Cash back statement credit redemptions start at 2,500 miles for $12.50.

So the 40,000 bonus miles are good for a $400 travel statement credit or a $200 cash back statement credit.

A Travel purchase is defined as: Airlines, Travel Agencies & Tour Operators, Hotels, Motels & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Passenger Railways, and Car Rental Agencies.

Additionally, there are Gift Card redemptions that start at 5,000 miles for $25 as well as merchandise redemptions.

So the best option is to redeem the miles for a travel statement credit, and as you stated, you will then also earn 10% of your miles back as a travel redemption bonus.

So if you redeem the 40,000 bonus miles for a travel statement credit, then you will get 4,000 extra miles back with the travel redemption bonus.

Thanks for helping to clarify. I definitely plan on redeeming my miles for a statement credit toward travel to get the full bonus value.
