Many Capital One credit card members will now have free access to your credit score through the Capital One Credit Tracker Tool, which you can access by logging in to your online account.
However, unlike some of the other credit card issuers that are participating in the FICO Score Open Access Program, Capital One will not provide authentic FICO scores.
Instead, they are offering the TransUnion Educational Score, which is not the same as the official FICO score used by lenders.
It can still be used to gauge your general credit score though and is certainly useful to monitor the health of your credit and any major fluctuations in your score.
Still, with Barclaycard and Discover Card Fico Scores being available, it seems like Capital One wanted to keep up with the competition, but they didn’t quite meet the standard set by other issuers.
If you have a Capital One card, log in to your account and search for the Credit Tracker Tool to see if you can access your new credit score.
