Target Offers Free Credit Monitoring in Response to Data Breach

Target is offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection via Experian’s ProtectMyID to Target customers who shopped in U.S. stores.

Just visit the Target Free Credit Monitoring Registration Page to request an activation code before April 23, 2014.

You must then register for the offer through ProtectMyID before April 30, 2014.

In addition to a complimentary copy of your credit report, you will receive daily credit monitoring, identity theft insurance (except where prohibited by law), and have access to personalized assistance from a highly trained Fraud Resolution Agent.

Access to the Fraud Resolution Agent will continue even after other benefits of the initial 1-year ProtectMyID membership expire.

After 12 months, those who register have the option to continue your memberships at your own expense.

ProtectMyID Package Details

This ProtectMyID package includes the necessary tools you need for credit monitoring and identity theft protection.

It does not include Experian credit score or reports from Equifax and TransUnion.

When visiting the enrollment site, you will have the option to purchase these additional products at your own expense if you choose, but you are not required to purchase a credit score to receive the benefits of credit monitoring and identity theft protection.

How to Enroll

1. Visit creditmonitoring.target.com to request an activation code and submit your name and an email address.

2. After submitting your information, Target will email you within 1 to 5 days with your unique activation code and directions for how to enroll in ProtectMyID.

3. After you receive your activation code from Target, you may visit www.protectmyid.com/target and use the code to start the enrollment process.
