Can the required first purchase (to get the bonus) be for anything, or must it be for a stay in one of their hotels? When I clicked on the link for the full info, the “You’ll get 30,000 bonus points after your first purchase” had a footnote (3) by the words, but I could not find what that referred to. So I wonder if their idea of first purchase is a hotel night or if there is a minimum spend? Thanks.

The footnote 3 correlates with the text below in the fine print:
“First Purchase Bonus: Signature and Platinum Visa Cardmembers that choose the annual fee card will receive 30,000 bonus points and Signature and Platinum Cardmembers that choose the no annual fee card will receive 12,000 bonus points after the first use of your account for a Purchase or Balance Transfer (that are not later returned or rescinded).
Points will be sent to Wyndham at the close of your billing statement after a qualifying transaction has been posted.
Balance Transfer Checks do not qualify for bonus points.
The one-time point bonus offer is limited to new credit card customers who open an account in response to a specific offer.
The first purchase point bonus cannot be combined with the Timeshare purchase offer of 0% APR financing for 6 months.”
To otherwise answer your question, it looks like there is no minimum spending requirement for the first purchase, and it does not have to be for a hotel night.
You can just make any purchase on the card to qualify for the bonus points.

However, they do provide this phone number on the application page that you can call to apply online or obtain additional information.

There may not be a specific expiration date at this time.
I’ve actually seen this exact same URL of the promotional link being redirected to a different offer in the past, so I would imagine that the promotion will be live as long as it is displayed on the promo page, but that may not necessarily be true.
I’d definitely make a copy of the promo page and terms before applying, just to have that info recorded for confirmation purposes in the future.
