I wish I would have read the comments before I signed up for the checking account. Oh-Well, maybe I can use the $100.00 code for my husbands account. Is that allowed???

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know I used your link so if you get a bonus it should be on the way. If not, thanks for the links.

    Hello 20 Something Lady,

Sorry you didn’t get the $100 bonus, but yes, your husband should be able to receive the bonus without a problem.

    Hello 20 Something Lady,

I just wanted to follow up in regards to if your husband would qualify for the $100 bonus offer.

Upon further review of the terms, I noticed this section:

    Limit one check per household.

However, it is not clear as to whether that means one check per household per individual bonus offer, or one check per household for all bonus offers from Bank of America.

Since you applied for the $75 bonus offer, your husband may also qualify for the $100, but this is unclear.

If you are both able to qualify for the bonuses, we would appreciate you following up to let us know.

    Thanks again.

If any other readers have experienced similar situations, please feel free to post your comments to help inform our audience of your first hand experiences, as our customer service inquiries have not provided definitive answers to this question.

  7. qh160 says

are we students allowed to open this personal checking account? or we are only approved to open the student checking account? thanks

  8. says

    Hello qh160,

I contacted Bank of America customer service through their online chat system, and below is their response to whether students can apply for the regular checking account.

Me: Hello, I am a student, but I want to apply for a regular checking account. Is that allowed? Also, do I have to be 18 or over?

Randy C: Hello, Yes, the application will require that customers be at least 18 years old.

Me: Can I apply for a regular account even though I am a student?

Randy C: Sure! The Regular checking is only free with a $750, I would recommend the MyAccess instead, We offer a completely free checking account without any monthly fees or requirements called the MyAccess checking, its free if you apply online and will be free for as long as you own the account. The great news, is the Regular savings is also included free without any balance with Keep the Change.
Last text message receivedRandy C: Both will be free without any fees and no balance needed, ever. All when you open them online.

    That’s their response.

I’m not sure of your exact situation, but as long as you’re 18, you can apply for the personal checking account.

    Hope this helps.

  9. Joe says

Has anybody noticed any verbage regarding the conditions under which they will allow you to keep the $100? I know some banks say you must remain a member for a certain period of time… Any ideas?

  10. Rob says

I’ve dealt with Bank of America offers before and typically they specify a 6 month period but if the offer does not state a time period, then you can close the account whenever you like.

I opened a $100 account offer from Lasalle Bank (owned by Bank of america) that did not specify a time period and I closed the account after 4 months without penalty. Just make sure you print the offer for your records if the subject comes up.

  11. Debbie says

if you opened a checking account online and you didn’t pay the opening deposit, how long do you have to put it in there?

  12. says

    Hello Kay,

The MyAccess account is only free when you apply online, otherwise there is a $5.95 maintenance fee that can be waived if you establish a direct deposit, but the CampusEdge account is free in Bank of America banking centers as well as online.

Here’s the most updated change to the Bank of America fee terms.

Addendum to: Personal Schedule of Fees

    Effective February 1, 2008

This Addendum amends the Personal Schedule of Fees. It applies when you open one of the following accounts online.

    MyAccess® Checking

If you open your MyAccess Checking account online, we waive the monthly maintenance fee.

    CampusEdge® Checking

If you open your CampusEdge Checking account online, we continue to waive the monthly maintenance fee on your account when it is converted to a MyAccess Checking account after 5 years.

Here’s an older set of terms that indicates the MyAccess account is only free when you apply online in states that don’t have Bank of America banking centers. Although these terms can still be seen on Bank of America’s website, the newest terms should be in effect.

    Effective July 7, 2006

This Addendum amends the Personal Schedule of Fees. It applies to MyAccess® Checking accounts opened online by customers who reside in states with no Bank of America banking centers.

As of the effective date of this addendum, Bank of America has no banking centers in AK, AL, CO, HI, IN, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MT, NE, NE, OH, SD, UT, VT, WI, WV and WY.

    MyAccess® Checking

    Monthly maintenance fee waived.

Withdrawals, transfers and balance inquiries at a non-Bank of America ATM located in the U.S., each fee waived.

So you can apply for a CampusEdge account at Bank of America for free, but they will charge you a $5.95 monthly fee if you don’t establish a direct deposit for the MyAccess account, unless you apply online for free.

I live in one of the states in question, and my account was free when I applied online.

    Hope this helps, thank you.

    july 23 2009
i just saw a TV ad last night that said somthing about $100 BOA checking offer. Do you have any details?

  14. Karen says

Does anyone know with the current $100 offer how long the account has to stay open if the terms don’t specify?

Are there any hidden fees, like when you close your account?

  15. says

    Hello Karen,

Almost all of the Chase checking account bonuses require that the account remains open for 6 months in order to avoid having the cash bonus debited from the account upon closing.

    Hope this helps, thank you.

      Hello Wyle,

I reposted this offer that had originally been published back in 2008.

It’s basically the same offer from before, but just slight updates, so when that happens, I repost the original post.

So that’s why there are the older comments here.

      Thanks for commenting. Max
