Wealthfront Invite Program Waives Advisory Fees on Extra $5,000 of Investments

April 4, 2014 | 14 Comments

The Wealthfront investment service offers to waive the advisory fees on an additional $5,000 of assets for both new and current customers via the Wealthfront Invite Program.

About Wealthfront

Wealthfront is an automated investment service that will manage a diversified, continually rebalanced portfolio of index funds for you with very low fees.

The minimum amount to open and maintain a Wealthfront account is $5,000, which provides an optimized allocation across 7 asset classes for taxable accounts and 8 asset classes for tax-deferred accounts.

The minimum withdrawal amount is $2,500, and they cannot honor partial withdrawal requests that would leave your account below the required $5,000 minimum balance.

Wealthfront does not charge an advisory fee on the first $10,000 of assets under management.

On amounts over $10,000, they charge a monthly advisory fee based on an annual fee rate of 0.25%.

The only other fee that you incur is the very low fee embedded in the cost of the ETFs you will own that averages 0.17%.

Plus, through the Wealthfront Invite Program, you can lower your annual advisory fee even more.

Wealthfront Referral Link

So you will receive an increase of $5,000 in the amount that they manage for free just for joining through a current customer’s referral link.

The referrer will get an additional $5,000 managed for free as well, so everybody wins.

Wealthfront Invite Program Details

The Wealthfront Invite Program allows you to lower your annual advisory fee.

Please feel free to use my referral code to have $5,000 managed for free (they used to manage $10K for free for everyone, but they stopped it, so now the referral gets you $5,000 managed for free). Thank you so much!

I’ve used Wealthfront for about 2 years and have been very happy. I just rolled over my 401k and could use a few referrals to keep it cheap.
Like everyone else has said, we’ll both get an additional $5k managed for free by using the code.

After reading many articles on robo investors and how they stack vs Vanguard, or the Wealthfront vs Betterment vs Schwab IP, the nuances don’t really matter to an investor who will invest 1k to 20k. It’s just about going with one that you’re comfortable and not to let money sit in savings/checking accounts. It’s better to go with a taxable account for Tax Loss Harvesting feature.

I’ve chosen Wealthfront since the initial $15k is freely managed with a referral. This article already has one but feel free to use mine too! Link for $15,000 managed fund with Wealthfront – https://wlth.fr/1Pt1udL

Can I have your email address to verify the referral? Their support reached out and ask me to confirm the referral by providing the email address

I signed up for Wealthfront 2 weeks ago after doing some research on similar companies such a Betterment, FutureAdvisor, SigFig and even a few others that I don’t remember. For me, a novice investor with about 5K to invest, It all came down to WealthFront vs Betterment. I haven’t used betterment so I can’t speak on that specifically, but I ultimately chose Wealthfront and here is why.

    1. My investment amount is less than 15,000 (10,000 plus 5,000 referral) which is managed for free. So until I build up to that amount I won’t have to pay anything. Betterment charges .035 percent for balances less than 10K, from 10K to 100K, they charge the same as Wealthfront would which is .025 percent.

    2. Wealthfront has more diversified asset classes, meaning they can invest in more of a variety of things based upon your goals.

Those are the main reasons, Wealthfront also let me open multiple accounts. I have 2 regular investment accounts, one is a general savings, one is for my niece who is still a baby, and then I opened a Roth IRA, not sure if Betterment lets you have multiple accounts.

Other than that they pretty much offer the same thing. I read other multiple reviewers and more times than not Wealthfront came out on top, especially if you’re investing less than 100K.

I hope you find my review helpful, and if you decide to open an account, I would love for you to use my referral code, it will allow you to get the extra 5000 managed free instead of 10K, and it will also provide me an extra 5k managed for free. Go ahead and open an account, you can’t go wrong and the longer you wait the less time your money has to grow in the investments. Here is my link, good luck. http://wlth.fr/1RRlj3V

    Here’s something a little different!

Use this link and you’ll get $15000 managed for free, same as any of the other links. I also get $5000 more managed free, again same.

But I will also personally donate $50 to the American Red Cross for each of the first 20 folks who use this link. How’s that for a bonus impact?

    Thanks!

(Can I verify this? Not very easily, you’ll have to trust me on that part. I figure that’s my first 4 years of benefit from the free management, and I’m planning on using WF for much longer than that, so it’s a bit of good for everyone :)

I have been fairly active in managing my own funds, but with a baby coming I’ve been looking for a solution to automate much of the management of my investments. Wealthfront is easy, builds optimized portfolios in a way that is sound according to academic theory and has a very reasonable fees structure. In addition, with higher balances, they offer some very interesting tax loss harvesting solutions. Use this referral link for an additional 5k in assets under management without fees. http://wlth.fr/1tXmwJz Full disclosure: I also receive an additional 5k in assets managed free for referrals. Happy investing!

The 10k is managed for free forever. Is this 5k managed for free only for a year due to referral? Or forever? Or for some other length of time?

The extra $5k is managed for free forever. And it’s cumulative, so the more people you refer, the more you get managed for free!
