Interesting article and got an interesting question as I write mainly on the Philippines on my own blog for Expats. If an American is from an area with a local branch would they be able to do everything online then transfer theyre current pensions to it as obviously although they are living in the Philippines now they still hold American bank accounts for pension payments as well as other things they require from/in the U.S.
Chase has requirements for their bonuses that they don’t include when you open the account… you won’t find out about them until later, when you read through the fine print on the documents accompanying the origination papers… they look like ads, but they’re actually additional requirements. Be warned.

That opening bonus is gone before a year is up with those monthly fees if you don’t keep a daily balance of over 1500 in the account… one reason I won’t go back to Chase.
How long do I have to park my money so I can keep the bonus when I close the account?

You must keep your checking account open for a minimum of 6 months, or Chase may debit the bonus cash from your account upon closing.
However, you don’t necessarily need to park a certain amount of money in your account during that period in regards to qualifying for the bonus.
You just need to keep your account open.
