DCU offers a referral program that gives new members a $20 sign-up bonus and current members a $10 reward.

To qualify for the $20 bonus, new members must register via this DCU $20 Bonus Referral Link and open a DCU Free Checking Account with EITHER 5 qualifying transactions OR a recurring direct deposit (loan products also qualify).

After you open your DCU Free Checking Account and complete 5 qualifying transactions, which includes simply making 5 small ACH transfers to your DCU checking account from an outside bank, you’ll receive a $20 cash bonus within 30 days.

Plus, you can earn a 6.17% APY on balances up to $1,000 when you open your DCU Primary Savings Account, with no requirements to qualify for the high APY.

Anybody in the U.S.A. can qualify for DCU membership by joining the Reach Out for Schools organization for a $10 fee (you can join this organization when you open your DCU membership).

DCU Membership Eligibility

Regardless of where you live in the U.S.A., you may be Eligible for Membership with DCU.

However, you must belong to a qualifying organization, work for an eligible company, have a family relationship, or live in an eligible community in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.

The easiest option to qualify for DCU membership from anywhere in the U.S.A. is to join the Reach Out for Schools organization for a $10 fee, and you may join this organization when you open your DCU membership.

DCU $20 Sign-Up Bonus for New Members

1. Visit this DCU $20 Referral Bonus Link to open your new membership with DCU, which includes a Primary Savings Account ($5 minimum balance to open the account and remain on deposit to maintain membership status).

2. While the $20 promotion is not mentioned on the referral landing page, after you enter your initial details to start your membership application, the confirmation that you are joining via a referral link will be presented during the next steps of your application, so that you can confirm you will qualify for the bonus before continuing and submitting your application.

3. Within 90 days of become a new DCU member, complete at least 1 of the following 3 options:

  • Option #1: Open a DCU checking account and add a qualifying direct deposit, which is a recurring electronic credit of your payroll, retirement, social security, or other recurring monthly income in the amount of at least $500 per calendar month (social security is exempt from the $500 per calendar month minimum).
  • Option #2: Open a DCU checking account and complete at least 5 qualifying transactions that must post and clear your DCU account within the same calendar month, including debit/credit card transactions, ACH transfers, Point of Sale (POS) transactions, bill pay payments, balance transfers to your DCU Visa Credit Card, and Pay a Person transactions.
  • Option #3: Obtain a vehicle, RV, boat, or mobility loan for purchase or refinance.

4. Within 30 days after you complete any of the qualifying activities, DCU will deposit the $20 bonus into your Primary Savings Account.

DCU Refer-A-Friend Program

Once you join DCU, and you can participate in the DCU “Give $20, Get $10” Referral Program to share referral bonuses with your friends and family.

To refer new members, log in to your Digital Banking account on DCU.org (not available on the mobile app), click the “Member Referral” option within the Membership section, and share your unique referral link however you like.

When your friends and family join DCU via your referral link (which does not change) and meet the qualifications, they will receive a $20 bonus, and you will receive a $10 bonus, so both parties benefit.

To qualify for bonuses, new members must complete 1 of the following 3 options:

  • Open a DCU checking account with a recurring direct deposit of at least $500 per calendar month from payroll, retirement, social security, or other monthly recurring income (social security is exempt from the $500 per calendar month minimum).

DCU Primary Savings 6.17% APY

When you open your DCU Primary Savings Account, you can earn a 6.17% APY on balances up to $1,000.

There are no requirements to qualify for this great interest rate on your savings.

To open a DCU Primary Savings Account and maintain your membership, you must make a $5 minimum opening deposit.

You’ll earn a 6.17% APY on balances up to and including the first $1,000, and on any remaining balances over $1,000, you will earn a 0.25% APY.

    Get $100 for using my link. Pays out fast!!! As opposed to waiting on the debit card or Direct Deposit, you can trigger the bonus with 5 small ACH transfers and the $100 bonus will pay out within days. This is a nationwide offer when you join Reach Out for Schools non-profit for $10, which is an option on the DCU application. No Hard Pull of your credit, but they do Soft Pull Equifax, and pulls Chex.     No hard credit pull, no EWS, but they do pull ChexSystems and soft pull Equifax. My recommendations for Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU):

    1. Eligibility: For those who are OOS/nationwide, there is the option to join Reach Out for Schools which is the last eligibility option on the application. Cost is $10. Once you have a DCU family or household member, you can use them as your eligibility.

    2. You need to have an existing member DCU refer you to enroll in the promotion. Once the current DCU member submits your info into their DCU online banking Refer-a-Friend page, you will receive an email direct from DCU with your referral code. The code does not auto-fill on the application and expires in 90 days.

    3. Once you start the application, ‘Primary Savings’ is auto-selected & required for DCU membership. Be sure to add a ‘Free Checking’ account to your application.

    4. Expect to upload your D/L or State ID, front & back. File formats accepted are JPG, BMP, PNG, & TIFF. Also, several disclosures are required to be viewed as part of the application. You must at least click/tap on each to proceed.

    5. Funding with a Credit Card is available, however, it is limited to a total of $250, which includes the $10 ROFS join fee. $5 is required to be placed in the Savings and is not removable – it’s your membership share & ownership in DCU. Citi Double Cash posted as purchase.

    6. On the last page of the application, after funding, you should enter your referral code from the DCU email. If auto-approved, you should be presented with your member number. If not auto-approved, you may need to log back into your application to get your status – check your email for info. Your member number will enable you to sign-up for online banking & gives you the ability to refer others. Your checking account (ACH) number is available in online banking as well – it is different from your member number. Default online banking login info is your member number & password is last 4 of your SSN.

    @Max,

    I received an email today from DCU about this referral promo. The key thing I took from it is this line: “For referrals made by 12/31/2021.”

    They still have 90 days from receiving the referral email to sign up but the referral email needs to be sent by 12.31.21 for them to qualify for the bonus.

    Do you want to post an update so people know to act fast requesting a referral?

    The referral program has been upgraded and is now $100 for the new customer and $50 for the person who refers you. Besides the new bonus amounts, there is now a requirement to open a checking account, or a loan, to qualify for the bonus.

    They do pull Chex, but not inquiry sensitive. They also soft pull Equifax, but that does not hurt your credit. The application allows $250 in credit card funding, posted as a purchase on my Citi DoubleCash.

      Can the 5 qualifying debit transactions be for any amount like I buy $1 chips and that counts for one of the 5 transactions and my other 4 purchases bread gum a toilet paper roll etc ? Or does it have to be 5 big transactions
