According to the customer service representative that I contacted on 11/12/2025, anyone in the U.S.A. is eligible to join Utah First Credit Union by becoming a member of the Community Volunteers of Utah, which you can do during the online application process for a $5 fee.

In addition, all new Utah First members are required to make a $5 deposit in a Base Savings account and maintain that $5 balance for as long as you remain a member.

Whether you apply for a Utah First Personal Checking account online, in-person, or via telephone at 1-800-234-0729, a financial expert will ask you a few basic questions to verify your identity and help you finish opening the account in 5-10 minutes.

It’s important to note that even though a Utah First customer service representative indicated to me on 11/12/2025 that anyone in the U.S.A. could join, they will still review your application individually and may decline any application for any reason.

There’s always a chance that they may decide to temporarily stop accepting any out-of-state applicants if they receive a large influx of new member applications, or that this one customer service representative might have provided inexact information (i.e., anyone in the U.S.A. can join, but they meticulously review out-of-state applicants and decline many), so only proceed if you are willing to take the risk of being declined for any reason.
