Soft Pull to Open U.S. Bank Checking Account
The rep also indicated that when you open a checking account, U.S. Bank will perform a soft pull to verify your identity and address, and it will not show on your credit report.
Use Credit Card to Fund U.S. Bank Checking Account
The rep also said that you can absolutely use a credit card to fund a new account (up to $500), including a U.S. Bank credit card, and it will process faster.
The opening deposit limit is $500, and if you use a U.S. Bank credit card, the opening deposit will NOT be considered a cash advance and will NOT have the higher APR.
You can also fund new accounts using another bank account, debit card, or credit card from another issuer, and the limit for all options is $500.
After the opening deposit, you can make regular deposits into the account either by visiting the branch, from another bank electronically, or if you want to deposit cash from a U.S. bank credit card (or another issuer’s card), it will be a cash advance at a higher APR rate in the future (at least for U.S. Bank cards).
Take advantage of these U.S. Bank promotions to earn $250/$350/$450 in bonus cash with a new personal checking account and $300/$800 with a new business checking account.

I opened an acount. Enroled in on line banking and mobile app. Direct deposit Government Pension checks (almost $15,000 with in the 90 days. Called to ask when bonus told about 60days? after qualified deposits. Called again to make sure no hidden qualifiers and told all good. Called again to ask for status and told don’t know but looks like i did meet requirement. Called again told met requirements and would get call back. Called again for status, never got callback. when I did get call they also said looks like I met the requirement and she would look into it and call back (After a long conversation that had lots of why others were not qualified for different reason, mailer was to spousde…with lots of “fishing for answers” type conversation) When finally called back told did not make 10 debit transaction when the previos call stated was not listed on my promo and other calls varified I met all requirements even when I asked about other including debit card transactions as example of not listed qualifers that may pop up not listed on promo. opened account June 6. Got a return call Nov 20 after depositing over $60,356 in my account (direct deposits almost $40,000) I do not see debit transaction requirements in this promo. Did i miss it?

23DMC05 is a targeted offer and is non-transferable, if I were to have opened my account with this code I wouldn’t have gotten the bonus because I was not sent the mailer.

Hello Lala,
Thank you very much for your comment and for letting us know about this being a targeted offer. I am not positive if they updated the terms after I posted about the offer, or if it was there previously and I did not notice. However, it looks like they are trying to prevent these offers from being spread around on deal sites.
I have made updates to the above post accordingly. Thank you again for your help.

This does not to appear to be a Nationwide offer. I know of several people who have tried opening an account in Texas and US Bank denied the apps. YMMV.
BRIAN ANDERSON says
HI—–what about just doing a direct deposit from one of your other bank accounts – would US Bank know that’s it’s not from an employer ? If you were to open a business bank account at another bank, then do a direct deposit to this US bank to meet requirements – would US bank accept this as a qualifying direct deposit ?
AM Johns says
If you are self-employed and it is a legitimate payroll check, I expect they would. Before I retired, I did that with some of these offers. But those were legitimate payroll checks. I was not trying to commit bank fraud by pretending to do a direct payroll deposit when it really wasn’t — which is why I assume you asked, “would they know it’s not from an employer.”
